Anita/Mia

This is synth Anita, an unconscious synth programmed into conscious synth Mia, played by Gemma Chan, in the TV series Humans.

I've been wanting so badly to learn how to use coloured pencils effectively as I see so many wonderful coloured pencil drawings here. So I went to the art store and while talking to the wonderful lady who works there, she suggested an idea to me that she uses, which is to use a turpenoid on a small paintbrush to blend the coloured pencil on the paper, and help to fill in the white gaps. 

So this was an experiment in that method. Unfortunately the method didn't work for me well at all! The red pigments spread well but the blues seemed to vanish - at least until the next day when it appeared they had migrated through the paper and coagulated into little blue spots all over poor Mia's face! I finished the portrait, but even though I used a paper napkin over the drawing to prevent smudging, I found it was impossible to keep the colour from migrating all over the page.

So even though I was really pleased with the drawing initially, it ended up as a disappointment, and I've only posted it in hopes that perhaps someone else can learn from my failures. I'm also hoping to get some suggestions as to how to prevent colour migration when using coloured pencil, which happened even though I stopped using the turpenoid.
