Description
I was challenged by a fellow artist on Twitter to draw Colin with an over-top-expression on his face, and suggested this scene from the final episode of Merlin. I haven't drawn Colin in a while and was intrigued by the idea. It certainly was different, drawing his face so stretched and unusual. I kept having to stop and compare it to the reference, thinking, "this can't possibly be right!" In the end though, I'm fairly pleased with it, and really had a lot of fun doing it.
Graphite and oil based charcoal on 140 lb recycled drawing paper. I also challenged myself to use no blending tools on this one, but to see if I could do all my shading just with a light touch and the various pencil harnesses. The only other equipment I used was a knead-able eraser.
